Fatigue Awareness
Fatigue is one of the most common problems among rideshare, taxi, hire car and limousine drivers. Drivers often experience long hours, vast distances of travel and unusual work hours that may result in tiredness, a lack of concentration and depleted energy.

A study by the Queensland government showed that being awake for 17 hours had a similar effect on performance as having a blood alcohol reading of 0.05 which is the equivalent of two standard drinks. Many deaths and serious injuries on our roads have been due to fatigue related vehicle accidents.

Building a Cohesive National Network

Building a Cohesive National Network
Transport Alliance Australia (TAA) is an alliance of individuals and entities with an interest in the Australian commercial passenger transport sector.

This includes drivers, owners, operators, networks, booking service providers, depots, fleets, associations, industry services and suppliers.

TAA has its roots in the Victorian Hire Car and Taxi industry. As pressures were put on the industry by the illegal operations of Uber, and as the Victorian government tried and failed to adequately address these issues, the forerunner of TAA, the VHCA, was reinvigorated by Rod Barton and André Baruch.

Uber Driver with worst speeding history Magistrate has seen allowed to keep Licence
Uber driver, Michael Lederman, 65, has the worst speeding history a magistrate has ever seen yet has been allowed to keep his licence.

Lederman created four fake identities in attempt to avoid paying any speeding fines. He signed statutory declarations claiming that 'those drivers' were responsible for the speeding, when he got his total of nine speeding notices and one infringement for failing to stop at a red light.

Driver's Accreditation – A Right or Privilege?

Driver's Accreditation – A Right or Privilege?
I first got my driver’s licence – legally – as a 15 year old in New Zealand. While we all thought that driving was a right, a rite of passage if you will, the authorities thought differently and drummed it into us that driving was a privilege – and that it came with great responsibilities.

We were taught about the absolute power and danger that we were in control of, trying to master a beast that weighed approximately a tonne and that only responded to our inputs. We were taught about the consequences of our actions – how and when to brake, how to steer etc.

CPV Cleaning
All Victorian CPVs (ie taxis, hire cars, limousines, special vehicles, ride share (including Uber, Didi, Shebah, GoCatch, Ola) must be cleaned after each trip (including after personal usage).

You must correctly clean high-touch services in a CPV at the right times. You must also keep a record of every time you clean. If you work with a booking service provider (BSP) or CPV owner, they must take reasonable steps to support you.

When to clean

You must clean all surfaces passengers are likely to touch before every trip.

August 2020 News
News from Director André Baruch

“A tale of two cities” ... not London and Paris, as Dickens wrote in 1859 but Melbourne and Sydney (or anywhere else in Australia) in August 2020.

In Melbourne, streets are empty as on-the-whole Melburnians abide by Premier Andrews' Stage 4 lockdown including a total curfew between 8pm and 5am every day. The footage of our freeways, the lifeblood of our city, totally empty defies belief - a most surreal experience.
