Uber Class Action Maurice Blackburn has filed a class action against Uber on behalf of participants in the taxi, hire car, limousine and charter vehicle industry. This class action was introduced in response to losses suffered by drivers, licence owners, and operators, when Uber entered the Australian market. It doesn't cost you anything to join this Class Action. Find out if you are eligible to join and register today. |
From Maurice Blackburn:
We commenced the case in early May and shortly after that, we went before the judge to set a timeline. Uber made a strike out application on 19 July and a security for costs application on 7 August. The strike out application is about our pleadings and whether we have explained our case properly. The security for costs application is about costs. These applications will both be heard on 4 September. We expected this, and we remain confident about our case. In the background, we’re still working hard, mainly on quantifying the losses suffered by group members. We have almost 7,000 people who have registered to participate in the class action, and this remains open to members of the taxi and hire car industries who have suffered loss in the relevant states.
